Launching a skin-care line in a moment when the phrase âface maskâ has taken on a whole new, less relaxing meaning likely wasn’t the timing that Rihanna envisioned for her Fenty Skin debut in July. But when that launch included guys like Lil Nas X and A$AP Rocky repping the new hyper-inclusive line, we took noticeâwe’re fully onboard with blur-the-lines, paint-your-nails, do-what-feels-good grooming. So we had Rihanna and Rocky sit down for a very special double episode of Face to Face: the two stars grilling each other about all things skin care and wellness. And the shows they’re bingeing. And first-time red carpet looks (here, Rih lightly roasts one of Rocky’s way-back fits).Â
A$AP Rockyâwho describes his skin type as âhandsomeââsays that it took a minute to figure out for himself what it meant to take care of his skin. « I had to discover face cleansing and skin care all at the same time when I was a young buck in the shower,â says Rocky. âYou canât wash your body with the same rag you wash your face with. I was lucky enough to be the type of guy that wants to wash my face.â
It didn’t hurt that good skin scored him points in the romance department. Rihanna knows why: âWe enjoy men that take care of their skin, because it says a lot about how theyâll take care of themselves and the people around them.â
These days, he and Rihanna want to see the beauty and grooming industries try harder. âI wish there was more versatility,â Rocky says. âEverything is very old-fashioned and kinda stuck to the old blueprint.â
