Abby Duchscherer, a freshman at the University of Alabama, is set to compete in the Women’s College World Series with her softball team. Her parents, Kelly and Brian Duchscherer, have been following her across the country to support her. The family has had to adjust to Abby’s new role as a pinch-hitter, but she has risen to the challenge. Despite being a small part of the team, Abby is excited to be a part of the World Series.

Abby was a star athlete at Kindred, leading the Vikings to three state basketball titles and winning Miss Basketball last March. Her passion has always been softball, and she played for the Minnesota Renegades travel squad, where she became a Top-50 high school player in the country. Abby committed to the University of Alabama more than two years ago, and her parents still get asked about coming from North Dakota.

The Duchscherer family has been traveling extensively to support both Abby and their older son, Trenton, who plays for the Cumberland University baseball team in Tennessee. Despite the expense and the miles traveled, they have been able to see almost 50% of the games and feel blessed. Abby’s parents are excited for her to compete in the World Series and have told her to savor the experience.

Abby’s journey to the Women’s College World Series is a testament to her hard work and dedication to softball. Her parents’ support and sacrifice have also played a significant role in her success. The Duchscherer family’s story is a reminder that behind every athlete’s success is a supportive family.
