Today is an ALERT DAY as we continue to track the latest impacts from Tropical Storm Laura, which continues to weaken as it moves through Arkansas.
Good news! Thanks to some dry air, our Tornado Watch has been trimmed back for our Mississippi River Counties this afternoon…The spin-up threat remains for our central counties, however, and the watch will go until 4PM unless otherwise noted. #mswx @wlbt pic.twitter.com/rZsVWUuvWA
Although most of the area was under a Tornado Watch today, that has since been cancelled for a few of our western counties. Spin-ups will remain possible through the start of the PM drive for our central counties, however, and these areas will need to have alerts turned *ON* and be ready to respond to any tornadoes that quickly develop in this environment. Gusty winds up to 50mph will also remain possible today. Fortunately, dry air has wrapped around the storm and has dropped our rain coverage, but periods of heavy rain still canât be ruled out. Stay tuned with the First Alert Weather Team as we keep you posted throughout the day online, on-air, & on our First Alert Weather App!
Weâll need to be on guard in terms of that spin-up threat into Friday before we finally see our Laura-related impacts come to a close by the end of the work week.
Daily showers and storms will be possible this weekend and into the start of next week!
