Anthony Duclair a misé sur lui-même. Maintenant, les Panthers parient sur lui pour la finale de la Coupe Stanley.

After becoming his own agent and betting on himself, Duclair has changed the narrative about himself as a hockey player and a person.

Anthony Duclair, the Florida Panthers speedster, has had a tumultuous career, having played for six teams since being drafted by the Rangers 10 years ago. He has been criticized for inconsistency, defensive issues, and attitude problems. However, Duclair decided to represent himself in contract negotiations with the Ottawa Senators after scoring 23 goals in 66 games and making the All-Star Game before COVID-19 halted the 2019-20 season. He turned down a mid-term extension in the $4 million range and became an unrestricted free agent. Duclair says he fired his agent three years ago and bet on himself, which has paid off. He negotiated a three-year, $9 million contract with the Panthers in 2021 after scoring a career-high 31 goals and 58 points in 74 games.

Duclair’s Journey to the Stanley Cup Final

Duclair’s journey to the Stanley Cup Final has been challenging. He ruptured his left Achilles tendon during offseason training, underwent surgery, and missed more than half of this season. However, he has not only found himself in the Stanley Cup Final, but he also scored the tying goal with 10 seconds left in the second period in Game 1. Duclair has scored four goals and 10 points in 16 playoff games. Although he is still a little hesitant, he is expected to have another big moment or two in the series.

Duclair’s Decision to Represent Himself

Duclair’s decision to represent himself in contract negotiations has been a game-changer for him. He felt that it was better for him to contact teams himself and let them know his position and who he is as a person rather than relying on a third party. He did his research, did his homework, and tried to make sure that when he left Ottawa, the next team he played for, he was there for a little bit and comfortable and fine living there. Duclair’s decision to represent himself has paid off, and he negotiated a three-year, $9 million contract with the Panthers in 2021.
