John Terry and the Villa top brass are reportedly attempting to lure their one-time loanee back to the club he helped get promoted
Chelsea sent the youngster up to the West Midlands two years ago, where he scored 26 goals and helped fire the team to top-flight promotion under the guidance of assistant manager John Terry.
JT and Villa are now reportedly hoping fellow striker Timo Wernerâs high-profile arrival at Stamford Bridge will persuade Abraham of the need to look elsewhere for regular first-team football.
But despite the interest from the club where he has fond memories from the Championship, the 22-year-old is determined to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea, reports the Daily Mail.
Abraham enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Frank Lampardâs side, scoring 16 goals including the opener at home to Villa, and seven in the space of three matches this time last year.
The Blues are embracing the kind of transfer window that only a billionaire owner can buy, with Brazil legend Thiago Silva, Dutch international Hakim Ziyech and Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell, as well as Werner, among their recent additions.
However, Abraham is apparently undeterred by the increased competition for places and would prefer to remain in west London than take the bait of being a big fish in a smaller pond.
Olivier Giroud ended the last campaign ahead of Abraham in the strikersâ pecking order, but the Englishman will be desperate to regain his astonishing form from the start of the season.
Having started the season in style, Abraham suffered ankle injury shortly before the Premier League was suspended and failed to pick up where he left off following the June restart.
Yet, with Chelsea competing once again in the Champions League and the domestic calendar crammed into season a month shorter than usual, he is likely to get some outings.
The first of those could even be this weekend as Chelsea take on Brighton at the Amex Stadium in a test event for the readmission of supporters into Premier League grounds.
