Brandon Miller not among Naismith national player of the year award finalists

Alabama star freshman Brandon Miller was not among the four finalists named for the Naismith national player of the year award. The four finalists were Purdue’s Zach Edey, Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis, Kansas’ Jalen Wilson, and Gonzaga’s Drew Timme. The winner will be announced on April 2 during the Final Four. The Naismith award has been given by the Atlanta Tipoff Club since 1969.

Miller was named earlier this month as one of 10 semifinalists for the Naismith award. He is also among the final 15 candidates for the USBWA’s Oscar Robertson Trophy for player of the year and is one of 16 players on the ballot for the Wooden Award, the other major national player of the year award. Miller was initially left off the Wooden Award ballot before being added to the list a week later.

Miller named USBWA Wayman Tisdale national freshman of the year

Miller has also received several other accolades, including being named to the Associated Press first-team All-America, Sporting News first-team All-America, and USBWA second-team All-America.

Miller was also named SEC player of the year (coaches vote), SEC player of the year (Associated Press vote), SEC freshman of the year (coaches vote), SEC newcomer of the year (Associated Press vote), and was included in the All-SEC first team (coaches vote) and All-SEC first team (Associated Press vote). He was also named to the SEC all-freshman team (coaches vote) and SEC tournament MVP.

Alabama’s Miller receives multiple honors despite not being named Naismith finalist

Despite not being named a finalist for the Naismith national player of the year award, Brandon Miller has received multiple honors, including being named the winner of the USBWA’s Wayman Tisdale national freshman of the year award. Miller has also been named to several All-America teams and has received multiple SEC honors.

While Miller was not included in the finalists for the Naismith award, he is still in the running for the USBWA’s Oscar Robertson Trophy for player of the year and the Wooden Award. The finalists for the Wooden Award will be announced on March 29. Regardless of the outcome, Miller’s impressive freshman season has already earned him a place in Alabama basketball history.
