Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will continue Activision’s exclusivity arrangement with Sony. The end of its first official trailer, which dropped in Warzone this morning, promises open beta access to those who pre-order, but notes it will be « first on PS4. » The official PlayStation version of the trailer gives a little more information.

According to the PS4 trailer, the PlayStation beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be available « at least 5 days earlier than any other format. » That doesn’t give an exact date, nor does it even necessarily suggest that the beta will only be on PS4. If the PlayStation 5 launches in time for the beta, we could see it on both platforms.

Another caveat is that the open beta access only applies to digital pre-orders, according to a report from Charlie Intel. Physical pre-orders will not get open beta access. The beta is said to last a minimum of two days.

The announcement also brought loads more details on the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. We know that its multiplayer modes will bring back Zombies, along with traditional multiplayer, and the continuation of the free-to-play Warzone battle royale mode. Raven Software also gave us an idea of how long the Cold War campaign may last.

Black Ops Cold War is coming on November 13. It will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions coming at some point in holiday 2020–« depending on when consoles are available to consumers, » according to Activision.
