SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 195 new COVID-19 cases including 45 Omicron infections on Monday (December 20).
According to the latest infection statistics on the Ministry of Health (MOH) website, 42 of the reported Omicron are reported -Cases imported while three are local.
Of the new cases, 146 are being transmitted locally, 141 of which are in the community and five in dormitories of migrant workers.
The weekly infection growth rate is 0.56, unchanged from value from Sunday. This relates to the ratio of community cases for the past week to the previous week.
The growth rate has remained below 1 since November 13th. A number below 1 means that the number of weekly COVID-19 cases is falling.
The utilization rate of the intensive care unit (ICU) is 52.8 percent, compared to the 43.8 percent reported on Sunday.
By Sunday, 96 percent of Singapore’s eligible population – people 12 years and older – had completed their full vaccination.
MOH announced in a separate press release that a suspected Omicron cluster in an Anytime Fitness outlet in the Bukit shopping mall Timah was discovered.
Of the three COVID-19 cases related to the gym, two tested « preliminary positive » for the Omicron variant, while the third remaining case is pending.
All three cases, those who visited the point of sale between December 15 and 17 are fully vaccinated and have mild symptoms. None of the cases have a recent travel history.
MOH said staff and visitors to Anytime Fitness at the Bukit Timah Shopping Center who have been identified as close contacts in the cases will be quarantined.
As a precaution, other visitors will be quarantined Health Alerts (HRW) issued between December 15 and December 17 at the gym. You will also be contacted by MOH for a one-time targeted PCR test.
