The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and Ted Danson’s soft laugh is in the air. That can only mean one thing: It’s Emmy Nomination Day.
Ron Cephas Jones and Jasmine Cephas Jones will announce the nominees for the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards on Tuesday, July 13th at 8:30 p.m. PT season ever Some of the power plant programs that would be prepared for repeated glory under normal production conditions will not come into question until 2022. “Succession,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” and “Ozark” are just a handful of perennial Emmy favorites that will not be eligible for entry in 2021. So this could mean the most diverse and open nominations the Academy has ever given.
Of course, the opposite could also be the case. Even with an influx of exciting programs from various networks and services, some of which were done before and after last March’s closings, we could be heading for many proven Academy picks. It could mean the nomination list for Goliath’s perennial awards is even tighter.

The exciting thing is that even if we know the list of series and craftsmen competing for Emmys this year, many of those races will still be effective competitions. Fan favorites could step in and gain momentum in the month and a half before the final vote is complete. The stable legs of the past decade could benefit from voters from the various wings of the academy.
It was a year of change (one of the streaming platforms with multiple Emmy wins last year – including one for the aforementioned Jasmine Cephas Jones – doesn’t even exist anymore!), But we won’t know exactly how much will be revealed by this year’s nominee deadline.

The final voting for the Emmys starts on August 19, 2021 and lasts until 10pm. PT on August 30th. Details of the Creative Arts Emmys – which traditionally take place over two nights on the weekend before the Primetime Emmy ceremony – have not yet been announced. The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards will be hosted by Cedric the Entertainer and will air on CBS on Sunday, September 19, 2021. The event will also be available via streaming to Paramount subscribers.
