In a few days, some of the best women basketball players will find out where to make the next stop in their careers.
The WNBA draft for 2021 is due to begin on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET. Like last year, contestants will do so virtually rather than traveling to a central location.
The Dallas Wings own four of the top seven selections, including numbers 1 and 2, thanks to many maneuvers by team president Greg Bibb. The wings moved to the fore to end a cyclone day for the Seattle Storm.

Many expect the Texas star Charli Collier to be the first off the board. Additionally, the rest of the draft is hard to pin down as the 2021 class appears to have depth but not enough top talent.
Perhaps a team like the Minnesota Lynx beats gold in 2019 by beating Napheesa Collier looks to fall into your lap in 6th place.
It’s not difficult to understand why Collier is considered the consensus number 1 player emerged. She averaged 19.0 points, 11.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 31 games. The 6’5 « striker also shot 32.3 percent from a distance in three seasons and was optimistic that she could stretch the floor.
However, Collier had some particularly lackluster performances against tough opponents in her junior year scored 17 points in three games against Baylor and went 2-10 off the floor when the Longhorns lost to South Carolina in the Elite Eight.
Judging Collier by their worst games would be unfair, but the competition in the WNBA would be unfair is only getting tougher.
Awak Kuier was an outstanding player at the 2018 FIBA U18 European Championship for Division B. She averaged 14.3 points and 12.4 rebounds when Finland finished in seventh place The 6’4 « forward also caught some attention in 2019 when the NBA Academy Instagram account showed how she can play over the edge.

In 24 games in Italy, Kuier scores 8.9 points, 6.8 boards and 1.5 templates per night. While she is still in the works, she would fit well with a team that could afford to gradually adapt her to the WNBA.
Arella Guirantes is a 5’11 « guard who, as a senior, has an average of 21, Scored 3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists. This largely shows why she is one of the top 5 players in the class. Guirantes fits the profile of a two-way player and is sized to accommodate multiple positions The Rutgers star also scored 38.2 percent of her threesomes in the past two years. While she isn’t a dead-eye shooter, she’s good enough to keep opposing defenses honest. </ According to Her Hoops Stats, Rennia Davis finished 2020-21 with an effective field goal rate of 51.1 percent, underscoring one of her biggest problems, with the Tennessee star never connecting more than 37 percent of his three hands and falling into the last two years each below 30 percent.
Even so, Davis is a dynamic Tors chützin who uses her 6’2 « frame well for defense. Their potential at this end of the floor alone would be enough to warrant top 5 status. Along with her defense, she amassed 8.8 rebounds per game in her final season. As her shooting improves, her ceiling rises significantly.
No one helped her more at the NCAA than Aari McDonald. The Arizona star was the driving force behind the Wildcats run to the championship game, and she had the chance to bring home the title at Summer.
Respect for Aari McDonald. She put on a SHOW in the tournament.

McDonald would probably be number 1 if it were three or four inches taller. But at 5’6 « , she’s just as tall as Jordin Canada, an all-defensive first-team first guard who was a valuable addition to two Seattle Storm championship squads that won the championship.
Like Canada McDonald is the two-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year but not the most efficient scorer. After moving from Washington, he shot 28.4 percent from a distance in Arizona for three years. But McDonald’s defense and gimmick should guarantee they last , has a productive career.
The second best point guard on the board after McDonald is Dana Evans of Louisville, who had an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.83 in 2020-21, according to Her Hoops Stats.
Evans’ assistance numbers (3.9 per game) fell slightly as she became more of a goalscorer (20.1 points per game), but she projects as a solid backup point guard right out of goal while working on the Accustomed to the speed of the WNBA.
The Ar kansas star isn’t afraid to fight for points inside. According to her hoops statistics, she was in the 99th percentile for two-point field goals (284) and in the 93rd percentile for percentage points of the free throw line (29.4). Throw 9 , 4 rebounds per game and the Alabama striker should be a steady 4.
Natasha Mack moved from Angelina College to Oklahoma before the 2019-20 season. In two years with the Cowgirls, she averaged 12.4 rebounds, 3.8 blocks, and 1.9 steals, and was named Naismith Defensive Player of the Year for 2020-21.
Mack’s career scoring average (Jan. , 7 points) may not translate because it was 1: 9 away from the perimeter. Having a solid glass cleaner and rebounder at the back end of the first round, however, would be of tremendous value to any team.
And Natasha Howard is an excellent example of how much the offensive potential grows into an adequate shooter from the three-point area of a player with Mack’s profile.
Michaela Onyenwere is the archetypal tweener. The UCLA forward stands at 6’0 « which probably means the 3 will be her best position at the next level. This is a little worrying because she played more like a 4 with the Bruins.
Onyenwere has the speed to handle wings defensively and get the dribble, but she can really unleash her potential by developing a consistent three-point game.
For the past two years, the Seattle Storm has had the first one at the end Round a foreign-born perspective with the idea of letting them stay abroad for a season. Ezi Magbegor’s strategy paid off early on, while the jury has not yet decided on Kitija Laksa.
One team could be Iliana Rupert with the same goal. The 19-year-old Frenchwoman was EuroLeague Women Young Player of the Year in 2019-20.
Kiana Williams not only left Stanford with a national championship, but is also the front runner n of the program with three pointers (311). The Cardinal Guard handed out 3.1 assists per game while averaging 14.0 points in 41.0 percent total shooting and 38.3 percent circumference.
It is doubtful that DiJonai Carrington would be an elite in the WNBA -Offensive game developed. Between their time at Stanford and Baylor, the 5’11 « guard averaged 9.6 points and had a three-point percentage above 30 percent only once in five years.
But Carrington was 18th in the Division I in defensive profit shares (3.1) in her one season with the Lady Bears, according to Her Hoops Stats. She could be a good situation defender at the next level.
Unique Thompson never reached 95 according to Her Hoops Stats. Percentile of Total Rebound Percentage. She was particularly good on offense, averaging 4.6 rebounds over 107 appearances for Auburn.
This could help allay the fears her 6’3 « frame created. because she will give away a lot of size to opposing centers.
Australia won a bronze medal at the FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup in 2018, and Shyla Heal was averaging 16.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 Steals an important reason for this.
Fast forward f to the present, where Heals 16.7 was the fifth best in the Australian WNBL. She also had 55 assists in 16 games for the Townsville Fire.
Kysre Gondrezick’s efficiency in West Virginia didn’t quite match the 42.9 percent three-point clip she enjoyed as a newcomer to Michigan. Even so, it has gone down 34.9 and 36.4 percent, respectively, among mountaineers over the past two years.
Gondrezick stole an average of 1.7 in the 2020-21 period, so she likely got plenty of quick breaks in the second session of a WNBA -Teams.
Lindsey Pulliam averaged 16.5 points and 2.0 assists during her career in the Northwest and showed a solid mid-range game. Her future in the WNBA will likely depend on being able to return to the shooter she was in 2019-20.
As a junior, Pulliam bonded with 35 percent of her three before watching that number rise as a senior 24.5 percent fell.
When N’dea Jones became a regular member of the rotation in 2018-19, he never ended a season with less than 10.3 rebounds per game. During that time, she was also worth 9.2 defensive percentage of the profits, according to Her Hoops Stats.
Even if Jones doesn’t offer much value on offense, her defense and ricochet could earn her minutes on a WNBA team.
Chelsey Perry averaged 23.1 and 22.9 points respectively over the past two years and was Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year for each season. She also upgraded her long-haul sweater to 35 from 83 (42.2 percent) in 2020-21.The level of competition questions Perry faces remain until she is tested against professional players. But it’s definitely worth seeing if the rating is translated.
With so few roster places in the WNBA, it can be difficult for a player with DiDi Richards’ profile to stay with him.
The native Cypress from Texas scored an average of 6.7 points and tried exactly one three-pointer in Baylor for four years. But Richards was the Big 12 and National Defensive Player of the Year for 2019-20. In the second round of the WNBA draft, teams might as well target players who have a clear specialty, and Richards could be a lockdown defender on the sidelines.
