The nominations for the SAG Awards 2022 were announced virtually on Wednesday, January 12th. The list of nominees for the Screen Actors Guild Awards was revealed on Instagram Live by Rosario Dawson and Vanessa Hudgens. The 28th Annual SAG Awards, recognizing the best in film and television performance for 2021, will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2022 on both TNT and TBS at 5:00 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. PT.
Last year the guild predicted 16 of the 20 nominees for acting at the Oscars. This 80% benchmark had risen from 14 out of 20 in 2020. In both 2018 and 2019, SAG achieved 75% (15 out of 20). And in both 2015 and 2017 it did even better with 17 out of 20. In 2016, however, SAG presented only 13 lucky Oscar nominees.
The list of SAG Awards was determined by a randomly selected nomination panel of 2,500 members from the merged Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. The winners will be determined by all 121,000 members of SAG-AFTRA.
