LOS ANGELES – Gavin Lux’s first face with an outfield wall was commemorated at Dodger Stadium on Thursday.

Lux hit the wall hard in left midfield during the sixth innings of Wednesday’s game and remained blank in pursuit of Wil Myers ’Drive. Lux left the game after that game and was still suffering from neck pain – but nothing worse – on Thursday when the Dodgers’ video coordinator Chad Chop decided to use sports tape to mark the scene of the crime. The State Farm advertisement in the center left showed the outline of a body as the Dodgers took the field for pre-game practice Thursday.

« This is Chico’s body, » Lux said, referring to Francisco ‘Chico’ Herrera, one of the Dodgers’ clubhouse attendants. “It’s a bit thicker than me … and shorter.

“(Chop) asked if it would be okay to do that. I said sure. It’s a great way to make a joke of it – now. Looking back, we can be joking now. ”

Lux has been an infielder throughout his career and moved into the outfield this month and played it admirably. Myers ‘Drive was his first encounter with the dangers of moving to the outfield.

« That was the first one where I really had to run into the gap like that, close to the wall, » said Lux, who was playing a game near the wall in the middle right in Arizona on Friday.

“The gap there is a little deeper. Here it cuts 15, 20 meters shorter. To be honest, I didn’t feel the (warning) trace at all. I just ran into overdrive and tried to do the piece. Now I know how to look over my shoulder, to see spatially where I am. It’s a study lesson. A tough lesson.  »

Lux said it probably played in his favor that he hit the wall so directly, face first. A blow with the shoulder could have resulted in a more serious injury than the stiff neck he felt on Thursday.

« My neck is a bit stiff, but overall better than I thought. It was scary, ”he said.

“I did some swings in the cage and it felt good. I took a couple of fly balls and threw them, sort of going through my normal routine. Everything checked off somehow. It’s just a stiff neck that we can fight our way through, somehow dragging through.  »

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Lux would be available to pinch or run if necessary in a late game situation on Thursday.

Outfielder Billy McKinney, who was added to the list of injured with an impingement of his left hip three weeks ago, started a rehab in the smaller division with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday. McKinney went in three at-bats with no hits. …

Left-hander Garrett Cleavinger was also in rehab at OKC. Cleavinger went to the IL in early August with a tense oblique muscle on his right side and was moved to the 60-day IL in early September, effectively ending his season. But he’s made four appearances at OKC in the past two weeks, allowing for three runs with four hits in 3-2 / 3 innings.
