A piece of cake from the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana is set to go under the hammer at auction.
The large piece of wedding cake was kept by Moyra’s family until 2008 when it was acquired by a collector.
The cake, which is still wrapped in cling film, is slated for sale 40 years after the couple’s wedding.
The piece is decorated with a coat of arms in red, blue and gold. It was presented to Moyra Smith, one of the Queen Mother’s staff at Clarence House, after the 1981 ceremony.
Moyra kept the cling film in an old cake until it was purchased by a collector who is now the royal Selling item at auction.
A tip of £ 500 is recommended when sold with a service order for St. Paul’s Cathedral Wedding and the Royal Wedding Breakfast Program.
In In anticipation of the royal wedding in 1981, 23 official cakes were made, including a 5 m high layered fruit cake weighing 225 lbs.
This slice is believed to have been cut and distributed to Clarence House staff, to thank them for their efforts.
