You always think you’re ready for a Taylor Swift drop … until it happens at Starbucks. That’s right – T Swift may be working with the coffee merchant just in time for Red (Taylor’s version) on something special that will hit music streaming services on Friday November 12th.
A partnership hasn’t been officially announced yet, but in true Swiftie fashion, fans have been preoccupied with the case and noticed a few Easter eggs on Taylor and Starbucks social media posts. Find out in advance everything we know about possible collaboration.
Fans found the first clue in Taylor’s « Fall Things » TikTok, which she posted on October 26th, and Starbucks also reposted the video on their Twitter feed.
Taylor went to TikTok, to recreate her own Tumblr post about loving this time of year, and in the clip she sipped a Starbucks bar with the logo clearly visible. Celebrities don’t usually show company logos without a prize or other motif, so in this case it seems like something is brewing between Tay and the coffee merchant.
Since then, Starbucks has had a bit of fun on Twitter, too. A few days after re-posting Taylor’s TikTok, they tweeted « It’s Red Season » with a series of emojis Swifties would know all too well.
We know all too well how exciting this time of year is, and we will Love & forever: Our red Christmas mugs and drinks are back! https://t.co/3nzlWsMFJg
I mean, Starbucks even made a joke about the misunderstood lyrics of Taylor’s 2014 hit « Blank Space » referring to a meme from their lover era. After the release of « ME! » In 2019, a fan created a fake Starbucks flyer promoting the single, claiming to give free drinks when people stream the song. When Starbucks replied, the fan replied, « Did I ask? Mind your own business. » I’m just saying … Starbucks’ social media coordinator deserves a raise for this top-notch Taylor content.
In addition to the banter on social media, People reported that a Taylor fansite called The Swift Society was getting information out published a newsletter sent to Starbucks employees. According to the post, Starbucks will serve Taylor’s favorite beverage – a fat-free Grande Caramel Latte – starting Friday November 12th.
And if you needed proof that this actually happened, Starbucks changed its Twitter bio to « On a Friday in a coffee shop … 🧣❤️ ». Not only does it have a scarf emoji, but it also refers to Taylor’s lyrics from « Begin Again, » a song by Red.
Hopefully the theories are true because I live two steps from a Starbucks removed and am already placing my order. Happy red season!
