Hicks, who missed a game on April 12 after it was revealed that Daunte Wright had been killed by police in a Minneapolis suburb the previous day, was encouraged by the fact that Chauvin, a former police officer , convicted of all three cases – second degree murder, third degree murder, and second degree manslaughter – and up to 40 years behind bars for the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis last summer.

Hicks told Aaron Boone earlier this month that he was following the death of Wright, a 20-year-old unarmed black Man struggling emotionally during a traffic obstruction in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota – approximately 10 miles from Floyd’s death.
