Hicks, who missed a game on April 12 after it was revealed that Daunte Wright had been killed by police in a Minneapolis suburb the previous day, was encouraged by the fact that Chauvin, a former police officer , convicted of all three cases – second degree murder, third degree murder, and second degree manslaughter – and up to 40 years behind bars for the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis last summer.
« I think it was a breeze, « Hicks said Thursday before the Yankees faced the Indians on Progressive Field. « I think we still have a long way to go, but I think it’s a good start. »
Hicks told Aaron Boone earlier this month that he was following the death of Wright, a 20-year-old unarmed black Man struggling emotionally during a traffic obstruction in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota – approximately 10 miles from Floyd’s death.
