CM – ACT extends lockdown, 19 new COVID cases


Canberra’s lockdown is extended for another two weeks as ACT records another 19 coronavirus cases.

The new cases bring the ACT outbreak to 28 and include a worker at an elderly care center in Tuggeranong and one Lyneham High School students.

According to Chief Minister Andrew Barr, the lockdown will be extended for another two weeks to September 2nd.

« As today’s figures show, the virus is active in our community, » said he told reporters on Monday.

« We don’t want the numbers to keep growing, and we don’t want exponential growth. »

Meanwhile, a student at Lyneham High School became the city’s inner north campus for four days visited, tested positive.
