WASHINGTON: Actress Claire Foy won a Creative Emmy Award as a guest actress in a drama series for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in « The Crown », her second for the Netflix drama, but in a different category.
According to Variety, she took the trophy at the 73rd Foy on Sunday Winning the leading actress’ race for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in 2018, appeared in the fourth season of the historical drama series in a brief flashback. But it was enough for voters to fall in love with their performance again. She also has a Golden Globe (from 2017) and two SAG Awards (from 2017 and 2018).
This year, however, Foy was not in Los Angeles to receive the award in person.
She starred in the hit series for the first two seasons before jumping back to the 1970s and 1980s to greet Olivia Colman in the role.
Colman was nominated twice in a row for the Emmy for Leading Actress, followed by Foy. She is currently running for this award for her final move as queen this year. Colman turned the role on to Imelda Staunton for the final seasons of the series.
‘The Crown’ was nominated for ‘The Mandalorian’ for the most nominations of a series with 24 that year. Foy was next to Alexis Bledel and Mckenna Grace from ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, Sophie Okonedo from ‘Ratched’ and Phylicia Rashad from ‘That’s Us’.
