After the attack in southeast Melbourne on Tuesday morning, one person was killed and another sustained life-threatening injuries.
Victoria police said a red Holden was on Hall Road at around 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday Carrum Downs when he met a number of people near the intersection of Lats Avenue.
A person who has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be a 35 year old transport worker was fatally injured in the collision.
Investigators say the driver, believed to be white and around 30 years old, was last seen getting into a black Hyundai SUV .
Anyone who witnessed the collision or was shown dashcam footage is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers, while members of the public who discover the black Hyundai should call Triple Zero.
