Brian Chesky, Airbnb CEO, asked users to suggest what they would like the company to launch in 2022, with most respondents calling for crypto payments.
In a number of Chesky tweets asked users for advice on new initiatives or updates to existing features. On Tuesday, he noted that the key proposal is to allow crypto payments along with clear price displays, a guest loyalty program, updated cleaning fees, longer stays and discounts, and better customer service.
1 – Crypto payments (top suggestion)
2 – Clear price displays
3 – Guest loyalty program
4 – Updated cleaning fees
5 – More long term & discounts
6 – Better customer service
Crypto payments would refer to a « variety of token ideas, » he wrote. The company’s existing payment volume is $ 336 billion processed since 2013.
One user stated that crypto payments could help users in countries where international transactions in fiat currencies are blocked. Other users compared crypto’s disruption of the financial market to Airbnb’s disruption of the rental market, which makes it a natural fit.
In other news, Airbnb recently listed House of Gucci’s Italian mansion for a limited time.
