CM – Animal Crossing: New Horizons game is paid for Happy Home Paradise DLC

Nintendo announced during the Animal Crossing Direct livestream on Friday that its Animal Crossing: New Horizons game would receive a paid DLC titled Happy Home Paradise. The DLC will be released on November 5 for $ 24.99, along with a newly announced free update for the game. Happy Home Paradise will also be available as part of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack membership.

Happy Home Paradise enables players to coordinate dream vacation homes and lifestyles for characters. There are several islands with different climates on which players can build houses of different sizes. Players are tasked with decorating houses and yards with furniture, wallpaper, partitions, fences, lighting, soundscapes, and other functions. Players can purchase rare furniture with the in-game poki currency earned by completing the characters’ requirements. The island of the character Lottie will also include customizable buildings like schools. Designs can be shared and viewed online on the Happy Home Network. With amiibo, players can also design holiday homes for special characters.

Nintendo has also revealed new content for a free update in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which will be released on November 5th.

New content includes Brewster-owned The Roost and Kapp’n’s boat tours to mysterious islands. There will also be an update for Harv’s Islands that will add shops from returning characters like Reese, Cyrus, Katrina and Harriet. The game will also add ordinances, improved home services, expanded storage, cooking with DIY recipes, lighting and ceiling decorations, updated camera features, new reactions, more furniture and gyroids.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the newest entry in the Animal Crossing video game franchise and the first in the franchise for Nintendo Switch. The game was originally scheduled to ship in 2019, but has been postponed to March 2020. The game sold 1.88 million copies in the first three days in Japan, the highest number of copies ever sold in the first week for a Switch game in Japan. As of December 2020, the game had sold 31.18 million times worldwide.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (Dōbutsu no Mori: Happy Home Designer) was released in July 2015 in Japan for Nintendo 3DS, in September 2015 in North America, and in October 2015 in Europe and Australia. The game lets players become a home designer for Nook’s Homes (Tanuki Housing) and design houses for the animals.
