The Warriors and longtime assistant coach Jarron Collins have mutually agreed to split up as Collins seeks coaching opportunities elsewhere, a Bay Area News Group source confirmed.
Collins, 42, is hoping to get a job as Head Coach or Associate Head Coach as several organizations make coaching changes this off-season. The former NBA center joined head coach Steve Kerr’s team in 2014, was promoted to assistant coach in 2015, and led the team’s defense for the past two seasons. The Warriors were fifth in defensive efficiency last season.
In the past, Collins held interviews as head coach with the Chicago Bulls in 2020, the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019, and the Atlanta Hawks in 2018.
The Portland Trail Blazers, Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic are in the process of hiring new head coaches.
ESPN was the first to report news that Collins has left Golden State’s bank.
