Hello and welcome to Sportstars Live coverage of the group game between ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC AFC Cup, which will be played in Male.
An exciting first half is coming to an end, when ATK Mohun Bagan leads 1-0 thanks to a 39th-minute header from Roy Krishna. Both teams started slowly and the game began to develop after the first 20 minutes. ATKMB relied on the creative abilities of newcomer Boumous, who was instrumental in the chances and fate of the team. Bengaluru, on the other hand, struggled to put passes together in the last third and rarely challenged ATKMB keeper Amrinder.
The Mariners took the lead when Krishna headed past Gurpreet to open his record for the season. The Fijian scored 14 goals last season and won the ISL Golden Shoe.
Bengaluru will be keen to get on the scorers list and find a way back into the game as they pursue their first win against ATK Mohun Bagan since 2019.

32 ‘The Gurpreet parade thwarted ATK Mohun Bagan’s counterattack. Roshan’s cheeky cross and cross at the other end of the pitch was cleared by the ATKMB defense and Boumous grabbed the loose ball. The skilled Frenchman dribbled past three men before letting go of Krishna at the other end. Krishna, under tremendous pressure from his marker, had a shot on target that was deflected. Boumous was in the right place to set the rebound at the right time, but Gurpreet blocked his shot remarkably well.

16 ‘Boumous, who played a key role in Mumbai City FC’s ISL triumph with three goals and seven assists last season, is now playing for ATKMB. He falls back and tries to orchestrate the game from the depths of the ATKMB half.

Jhingan moved from Kerala Blasters to ATK Mohun Bagan last season after a long injury break. As one of the team’s captains, he played in all 22 Mariners games last season.

3:40 p.m .: ATK Mohun Bagan gave everything in the summer transfer window to further strengthen its squad after the ISL defeat in the final against Mumbai City FC. The Mariners’ coveted catch, Hugo Bumous, who was lured away from Mumbai City, will make his debut for the club today. The Calcutta team have signed several top players over the summer, including goalkeepers Amrinder Singh and Deepak Tangri, who are also in the starting XI.
The other three new signings – Liston Colaco, Ashutosh Mehta, Bidyananda Singh – are on the bench .

Well-known opponents Bengaluru FC and ATK Mohun Bagan meet in the AFC Cup group game
Bengaluru FC (BFC) will try for the first time since 2019 well-known opponents ATK Mohun Bagan when the two teams face each other here on Wednesday in their AFC Cup Group D game.
The BFC will try to take its momentum when it sees the Club Eagles in the playoffs on Sunday defeated 1-0. Coach Marco Pezzaiuoli’s team is grouped alongside ATK Mohun Bagan, Bashundhara Kings and Maziya S&RC, with only one team qualifying for the inter-zone playoff semi-finals.

« Our last game was only two days ago so it was a brief respite for the team. It’s not really an advantage, but I can see the glass either half empty or half full and I choose to have it half full.
« After the win there was a good atmosphere and positive energy in the team. We have to be very sharp against ATK Mohun Bagan because I expect an aggressive game, « said Pezzaiuoli at the pre-game press conference.

ATK Mohun Bagan’s head coach Antonio Habas was one of the chances Team against Bengaluru FC equally convinced.
« With everything that is happening with the COVID-19 pandemic and the lack of participation of our foreign stars, we are (still) looking forward to doing our best in the competition, » said he.
The Habas team last played competitive in the Indian Super League final against Mumbai City in March and the Spanish tactician felt the long break between games might not be an advantage for his team.
« I know we haven’t kicked for a while and of course our players have had plenty of rest, but that doesn’t mean we have a clear advantage. I don’t believe in that philosophy as I think the team that shows more desire will do so. « Win tomorrow, » he said.
Jayesh Rane scored the only goal of the game when the Blues hit the club Eagles defeated, and with just three games in the group stage, goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu said the task at hand required focus and dedication from every corner.
« It’s true that this time around, because there are fewer games in the group are to be contested. But it is still difficult and we have to be focused. It was important for us to get into the group stage because we want to do it. « Good in Asia, as a club, » said Gurpeet.
