John Millman is the first player to reach the quarter-finals of the BMW Open in Munich.
The Australian No. 2 advanced after opponent Guido Pella withdrew only two games in the second set after the Argentine the first had won 6-4.
Millman is now expecting the winner from Pablo Cuevas and Casper Ruud for a place in the last four.
Pella’s resignation was a great blessing for the number 8 from Brisbane, who in The first round was involved in a three-set marathon with compatriot Alexei Popyrin.
The number 40 in the world is looking for his second ATP title after beating Adrian Mannarino to win the Astana Open in November.
World number 6 Alexander Zverev is the top seed and is fighting for his third BMW Open title in Munich.
