2019 Ballon dâ ???? Or Féminin winner Megan Rapinoe may be missing tonight, but Sam Kerr will lead the Matildas tonight, fresh from third place in this year’s poll. The Chelsea striker’s outstanding season for Chelsea and Australia was rewarded, behind Alexia Putellas and Jennifer Hermoso, the couple from Barcelona and Spain.
« I’m proud to be only on this list, so it hasn’t really arrived to be in third place yet, but I feel really proud and honored to have stood in front of so many big names. » Kerr just told Channel 10.
Oddly enough, one US player was on the list – Samantha Mewis, who finished 14th in the final vote.

There is no Caitlin Foord – who has to consider an FA Cup final with Arsenal at the weekend? ???? for the Matildas tonight one of three changes to Tony Gustavsson’s starting XI. Nevin keeps her place behind, but her central defense partner Nash falls on the bench on Saturday. Teagan Micah joins her on Pine while Lydia Williams clears her head in goal while Kyra Cooney-Cross moves into midfield. Hayley Raso starts for the first time since her return from an injury and Emily Gielnik, who was not there on Saturday, gets a seat on the bench.
There is only one change for the USA: Sofia Huerta comes in the back Starting eleven while Emily Sonett falls on the bench. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it and so on.

For the second time in just over a month, Australia will play a double-headed game from Saturday to Tuesday against world-class opponents. But while the October miniseries against Brazil got off to a good start for the Matildas – ?? with a 3-1 win in the first game â ???? Tonight they will try to recover from a 3-0 weekend in their first duel against the world champions.
This result in Sydney was not helped by the absence of key defenders Clare Polkinghorne and Alanna Kennedy, nor by a disastrous start to theirs Substitute players favored. the inexperienced central defense pairing of 19-year-old Courtney Nevin and 17-year-old debutante Jessika Nash. How coach Tony Gustavsson acts to fix his leaky defense could be key to the Newcastle result tonight. Polkinghorne is still out and Kennedy starts on the bench when she comes back from a quad injury. for the upcoming Asian Cup and also the 2023 World Cup on home soil, that is, they try to play “blindly” on the scoreboard ???? a???? in other words, it’s not so much about results, it’s about gaining experience and being tested by the best teams in the world.
« If I wanted to build that kind of false confidence, I would with a few stick to simple games and win some games and then do people talk about « it looks so good »? ? said Gustavson. « But then that would be a bit naive, because when it comes to tournaments [where] you play against the best teams, you are not really ready. »
Even a understaffed and inexperienced USA – ??? ? Who hasn’t traveled with the likes of Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan? can certainly provide yet another test, and today’s game at McDonald Jones Stadium promises to be intrigue in one way or another.
Kick-off is 8:05 pm local, 4:05 am on the east coast of the States. The full team news will follow, so stay with us. In the meantime, please feel free to contact us by email ([email protected]) or Twitter (@mike_hytner).
