CANBERRA, Australia (AP) – Australia will complete its troop withdrawal from Afghanistan in September in line with the United States and other allies, the prime minister said Thursday.
« In agreement with the United States and other allies and partners, the last remaining Australian troops will leave Afghanistan in September, « said Prime Minister Scott Morrison without nominating a day.
President Joe Biden plans to call the last 2,500 US troops before the 20th anniversary of the Sept. September against the United States, which sparked the campaign to withdraw from Afghanistan.
Since 2001, more than 39,000 Australian military personnel have served in Afghanistan, and 41 have been killed there.
