A baby whale stranded in the River Thames escaped from an inflatable cradle this morning during a major rescue operation.
Hundreds had gathered along the river in Richmond, southwest London after the whale took off from believed to be a dwarf three to four meters long, stuck on the reels of a lock.
Videos posted online showed the animal was hosed down by a man believed to be an employee The Port of London Authority (PLA) is when a veterinarian was doing a water check before the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) was on the scene to cheer the crowd around 9pm.
