CM – Bangladesh vs. Australia: hosts overcome Nathan Ellis hat trick and take the historic series win in the 3rd T20I – Firstcricket News, Firstpost

Bangladesh recorded their first-ever series win over Australia in all formats with a 10-run win that gave them an unassailable 3-0 lead in the T20I series.

Dhaka: Bangladesh overcame a hat trick by Nathan Ellis and won the Twenty20 series against Australia after a 10-run win in the third game on Friday.

Bangladesh won the first game with 23 runs and the second with five wickets. There are still two games left.

Pacer Ellis was the first bowler to score a hat trick on the T20Is debut as Bangladesh was limited to 127-9.

Under pressure, the Bangladeshi bowlers were up to the task defending their totals by limiting Australia to 117-4.

Though not getting a wicket, the fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman’s economical bowling was key. His cutter and slower deliveries stunned the Australians, and he delivered excellent numbers of 4-0-9-0.

When Australia needed 23 runs in the last two overs, Mustafizur only conceded one run in the penultimate over.

Alex Carey hit a six from the first ball of the last overs against offspinner Mahedi Hasan, but Australia ultimately stayed too short.

Mitchell Marsh threw a 47-ball 51 and became the top scorer for the third year in a row. He hit goal after the opener and captain Matthew Wade fell 8-1 against Australia.

Pace bowler Shoriful Islam (2-29) passed Marsh the first ball of the 18th and turned the game in the direction of Bangladesh.

After the game was delayed by 1 hour and 15 minutes, Bangladesh decided to beat first and immediately regretted it when opening players Mohammad Naim and Soumya Sarkar were sacked and the team were 3-2 in three overs.

Skipper Mahmudullah and Shakib Al Hasan added 44 runs for the third wicket until the latter was sacked for 26.

Ellis rattled his stump for his debut wicket and followed him with the wickets of Mustafizur Rahman and Mahedi Hasan to become the third Australian and 16th bowler to score a T20 hat trick.
