CM – Biden meets with Jimmy Carter, 96, during the Georgia trip

The president will also host a drive-in rally during his trip to Peach State.

President Biden will meet with former President Jimmy Carter on Thursday as he marks his first 100 days in office with a trip to Georgia.

Biden will meet with Carter, 96, and the former first lady Meet Rosalynn Carter, 93 in Plains, Georgia. White House press secretary Jen Psaki tweeted.

The trip follows Biden’s first address to a joint congressional session on Wednesday evening.

While in Georgia, Biden will also host a drive-in rally despite himself in his remarks likely to focus on global warming.

The 78-year-old Biden took office as a US Senator in Delaware four years before Carter took office as 39th President of the country in 1977.

Biden remained in the Senate throughout Carter’s tenure and until he became Vice President in 2009.

When he was sworn in on January 20, Biden became the oldest person in office.

The trip to Georgia will, in part, celebrate two Democratic victories in the Senate runoff on January 5, removing control of the Senate and expanding Biden’s power to pass laws. Psaki said at a recent press conference that Biden is « regularly » with speaks to former President Barack Obama but refused to reveal how often he speaks to other ex-presidents.

« I would say [Obama] is the president he works with most – the former president, with whom he is most in contact, « said Psaki.

Biden took office after a bitter campaign against former President Donald Trump. He recently spoke to former Republican President George W. Bush about his decision to withdraw US troops from Afghanistan.
