CM – Bob Keselowski, 1951-2021

Bob Keselowski, a former ARCA Menards Series champion and Camping World Series participant and father of NASCAR Cup Series star Brad Keselowski, has died after battling cancer. He was 70 years old.

« Bob Keselowski was a true racing driver whose determination and love for the sport embodied the spirit of NASCAR and ARCA, » said a NASCAR statement. “He worked tirelessly to build his family-owned team and did whatever it took to compete. Our thoughts are with the Keselowski family during this difficult time. ”

Keselowski won 24 races in the ARCA series and in 1989 won the series championship. Keselowski was an all-time contender in the series from 1986 to 1995, finishing in the top three in the points seven years in a row (1987-93).

In 1995, Keselowski moved to the Camping World Truck Series, where he was both a driver and a driver Was co-owner of the K Automotive team. In 1997, Keselowski won a single race in Richmond in 86 career starts. When Keselowski stopped driving in the late 1990s, the team started using trucks for well-known names such as Dennis Setzer and Terry Cook.

Keselowski is the father of two racing sons, Brad and Brian Keselowski. Brad began his career in the NASCAR National Series in 2004 for his father’s truck. He has been an Xfinity and Cup Series champion since then.

Brian is a three-time ARCA winner who has also competed in all three national series. Although the older Keselowski sold his team in 2006, he remained involved in racing through his sons, for example as car owner and crew chief for Brian in 2011 when the K Automotive team won a place in the Daytona 500.

Keselowski spent the past few years chasing speed records, which Brian was also a part of. Bob Keselowski set a record in a stock car on the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2018.
