Bravely Default 2 is coming to PC for a week today on September 2nd. It’s the first time the Square Enix RPG series has appeared anywhere other than Nintendo machines, and if exciting RPS treehouse news from Katharine is any indication, that’s good news for genre fans. I’m not a genre fanatic, but the background graphics are nice enough to intrigue me.
For those who keep count, Bravely Default 2 is the third game in the JRPG franchise and features entirely new characters so you don’t have to have played the first two on Nintendo DS and 3DS. His story sounds like pretty normal JRPG stuff to me, at least – four heroes set out to collect crystals representing the four elements and defeat an ancient evil – but the first two games had big twists and turns Mid-game and maybe Bravely Default 2 does that fine too.
When asked what the future holds for RPG at the beginning of the year, genre expert Kat Bailey said she had just completed a 50 hour playthrough of Bravely Default 2, which she – positively – called “a Console role-playing game that only exists to warm up Finale « described Fantasie V. »
“It’s a lot of fun. The job system is strong as always. It’s basically a 30 year old RPG with better graphics and some quality of life improvements, ”wrote Kat. Katharine also had great things to say about her fight.
If Kat liked it and Katharine liked it, that’s enough for me. Bravely Default 2 will be released on Steam on Thursday, September 2nd, and is offering a 10% discount from now until September 13th.
