The emergency services report non-fatal injuries to a police officer who was shot dead in a section of Long Branch this evening.
According to preliminary reports at the scene, the police tried to issue an arrest warrant at an address in the shortly before 5:50 p.m. On Chelsea Avenue.
The officer was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
