LONDON (AP) – A British aircraft carrier F35 jet crashed in an undisclosed location in the Mediterranean on Wednesday morning, the Defense Department said the British pilot of the jet was safely ejected and returned to HMS Queen Elizabeth .
The F35, valued at around £ 100 million ($ 135 million) each, are aboard the £ 3 billion HMS Queen Elizabeth.
The ship’s jets previously participated in debris attacks of the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria.
The aircraft carrier has been in its first operational deployment in the past six months and has made visits to 40 countries including India, Japan, South Korea and Singapore.
