The home team has won every game in this series and the Nets hope to continue that trend in today’s Brooklyn game.
Defense has dominated a series that featured two of the league’s most accurate teams, but the headline for that 7-game series was Nets’ survivability after James Harden had gone down in the opening game with a hamstring injury and Kyrie Irving was eliminated halfway through the fourth game.
The Nets survived Game 5 after a legendary performance by Kevin Durant, who scored 49-17-10 on a historic night The Milwaukee Bucks returned to Wisconsin, forcing Game 7 to the 3-3 Eastern Conference semifinals after a wire-to-wire win over the Brooklyn Nets. Khris Middleton laid the Bucks on their backs while the League’s offensive team played lockdown defense in the 104-89 win.
Once again, it was the Milwaukee Bucks defense that saved the day and extended their season. The team with the best goals in the regular season went out of their way to lock their defense to win all three games at home and force a do-or-die game on Saturday.
Brooklyn went to game 6 and knew they would do without their all-star guardian Kyrie Irving. James Harden’s return in the previous game, but struggled to get active again. Harden was much more dangerous on the offensive in Milwaukee, scoring 14 points in the first half.
It was Khris Middleton who stole the limelight with a career night. The Bucks’ keen shooter took over the game in the second quarter with 17 points and brought Milwaukee into double-digit halftime.
Giannis Antetokounmpo got the Bucks off to a hot start, set the tone and came early and often in the basket. The two-time MVP started the game 7 of 8 from the field as he seemed to get to the basket whenever he wanted.
The Nets made their run in the third quarter, closing the gap just before the fourth quarter five points, but the Bucks countered with a 14-0 run to put the game on hold.
Middleton hit a career high of 38 points and 10 rebounds that went 11-16 off the field and five of eight three Pointers met. Giannis was happy to share the stage but still managed a fourth 30/10 night in a row. The Greek freak had 30 points and 17 rebounds.
Kevin Durant was amazing as he was all postseason long, scoring 32 points while getting 11 rebounds. James Harden scored 16 goals but failed in the second half.
Game 7 will determine who will advance to the Eastern Conference final. The Bucks and the Nets travel back to Brooklyn with a win or home game from the Barclays Center at 8:30 a.m. Saturday night.
