The Chicago Sky picked the 19-year-old from the Australian WNBL and got Barkley to recall a 25-year-old beef with her father Shane « The Hammer » Heal.
In 1996, Heal and Australia faced each other in a hot show ahead of the Olympics with Barkley’s Team USA. Heal threw a 3 pointer at the wing and an already frustrated Barkley attacked Heal and sent him to the ground in front of the Australian bank. The rivals pounded in the chest after the incident and had some exquisite words.
On Thursday, Barkley confirmed with Ernie Johnson, co-host of « Inside the NBA » that Shyla is the daughter of his old archenemy. He turned to the camera to message his former Australian opponent.

« Shane Heal, I want to congratulate you on your daughter, but you are so lucky that I got your A Didn’t kill at the Olympics, « said Barkley with a grin.
Co-host Kenny Smith stepped in and asked Barkley, « Weren’t you going to fight Shane Heal at the Olympics? »
Heal, who was offered an NBA deal after the 96 games in Atlanta, quickly reached Barkley’s PSA and brought the trash talk to Twitter.
In a follow-up tweet, Heal invited Barkley to outsmart the 25-year-old argument in his podcast.
« Hey Chuck. You need to get on the basketball show so we can continue discussing. “
Heal, an unoccupied free agent, had two stints in the NBA – first with the Timberwolves in 1996-97 when he played 43 games, and second with the Spurs in 2003/04. Shayla’s professional career starts much better – and she doesn’t have to worry about Barkley weighing her down.
