The city asks the population to remove any debris or obstacles that prevent rainwater from draining through a ditch or culvert.

Residents of the city of Nederland can get free sandbags in the back of Doornbos Park (2301 Avenue H); Residence is confirmed by either a driver’s license or an electricity bill. Residents of the Netherlands are provided with up to 10 sandbags per vehicle or address.

Residents must bring a shovel and be ready to fill their sandbags. Due to COVID-19, piles of sand are being separated to allow people social distance while filling their pockets. People are encouraged to wear a mask. If you have any questions, please call the City Administrator’s Office at (409) 723-1503.
