According to the Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are in contact with Villarreal because of the sale of Emerson, the talented full-back they jointly own with Real Betis.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Villarreal is « best positioned » is to recruit the 22-year-old as they have come closest with their talks about a transfer stuck and the rating Barcelona are seeking for Emerson.
It is alleged that Betis boss Manuel Pellegrini is the board member of the Andalusian club of their wish to keep Emerson but was told that Barcelona were planning to make a big sale.
Mundo Deportivo have noted that Barcelona are valuing the right-back at € 24m. Villarreal are already poised to hit the € 22m mark, so a transfer deal is getting closer.
The Barcelona-Betis joint ownership agreement is described as being rather complicated. Both sides raised € 6m to sign Brazilian team Atletico Mineiro’s ace but will be entitled to different numbers if it is sold.
Mundo Deportivo reports Betis would make a € 9m cut – Emerson would be sold for € 24m, while Barcelona would actually deduct any remaining € 15 as the ace’s five-year deal is tied to them.

Villarreal may be about the assessment of Barcelona, but it is crucial that a deal depends on whether or not the Yellow Sub qualifies for European football.
