Jan. 4 (UPI) – Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts wrote a letter to the Washington Football Team and the NFL on Tuesday asking what action would be taken following the collapse of the railing at FedEx Field on Sunday.
« I tried to face the situation with a lot of serenity and show compassion for the people who fell, but I know it could have been so much worse, » Hurts told reporters. « It only hit me in hindsight, when I had some time to think about it and think about it.

« I just wanted to see what can be done to make sure this doesn’t happen again. That’s all that is really important to me. This is a very tragic incident and it could have been much, much worse «

After the Eagles’ 20-16 win over Washington, a railing on the side of the tunnel that led to the locker room at FedEx Field fell, one when Hurts left the field.

Several videos of the incident showed that about eight people fell approximately two meters to the ground. The railing also partially landed on a photographer.

Hurts was able to avoid the falling fans and was unharmed. He helped one person up and asked several of them if they were unharmed while posing for photos.

ESPN reported that WFT President Jason Wright received the letter from Hurts and « sent a private email in response. » The team also said they are « working to make sure this doesn’t happen again ».

Later on Tuesday, the NFL also released a statement in response to the incident and letter from Hurts.

« We know Jalens We appreciate any concerns and have reviewed the incident with the Washington Football team, « said Brian McCarthy, vice president of communications for the NFL.
