Eagles WR Jalen Reagor was carted off the field with an ankle injury in the first quarter against Detroit.

The Philadelphia Eagles went into the halftime locker room 17-0. It came at a price, however. Starter Jalen Reagor was carted off the field with an ankle injury. After a goal line run in the first quarter he went down in pain.

Reagor stumbled on the grass and landed awkwardly on his leg. The game was initially considered a touchdown and then knocked over as Reagor’s knee was down. The Eagles declared him for the remainder of the game. Head coach Nick Sirianni had brought the player out of the backcourt early in the second year. He had two carries for 21 yards, including this would-be touchdown. His loss has been hard to feel on specialty teams, where he serves as the primary punt returner. Greg Ward Jr. took over these duties.

Philadelphia enjoyed a dominant first half without Reagor. They stormed to a season high of 126 yards on the ground, highlighted by 53 yards on 10 carries from Boston Scott. He and Jordan Howard (eight carries for 45 yards) each scored touchdowns. Sirianni’s team wanted to suffer a streak of two game losses in week 8.

Injury Updates: WR J.J. A return from Arcega-Whiteside (ankle) is in doubt, and WR Jalen Reagor (ankle) has been downgraded to Out.

The offensive climax of the first half was a nifty trick game in which Kenny Gainwell took the deep pitch and closed it Jalen threw back Hurts, who found Dallas Goedert in the field. Defensively, they fired Jared Goff four times: Josh Sweat (two), Milton Williams, Derek Barnett.

The start linebacker Eric Wilson was surprisingly listed as inactive before kick-off. Wilson was a healthy scratch considering he wasn’t on the Eagles’ injury report. His defensive snaps were mostly given to Davion Taylor, with Shaun Bradley shuffling it up slightly. Wilson had seen a significant drop in his snaps in the last three games, including a season low of 22 against Las Vegas. That is a far cry from his 61 snaps in week 1.

Safety Anthony Harris has been inactive dealing with hand and groin injuries. The same goes for rookie cornerback Zech McPhearson (thigh). The Eagles made Gardner Minshew active for the first time this season. He made his debut as Philly’s new backup quarterback after the Joe Flacco trade.

Lane Johnson gave a captivating pre-game interview to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports detailing his battle with depression. The Pro Bowl Right tackle didn’t hold back, calling his mental health problems a « beast. »

Johnson left Philadelphia and traveled back to Oklahoma to recover. He missed three games and mentioned that in Week 1 he felt that something was « really wrong ». His battle with anxiety and depression actually began during his college days.

« It feels like doom. I just want to run away and not come back, ”Johnson told Glazer of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “A lot of nausea, I throw up every day. … It got so bad that it really started to vomit blood, nerves, tremors in my hands. I’ve been dealing with that for a long time. There are drugs that can help, but you can’t mask everything. ”
