Philadelphia Eagles recipient Travis Fulgham could be a breakout player in 2021 as he adjusts to his defense plans.

It is good to have a roster depth, especially when the starter is not expected to return. The Philadelphia Eagles signed veteran tight end Richard Rodgers to a one-year contract. He saw action in 14 games last year for Philly, catching 24 balls for 345 yards and two touchdowns.

Rodgers first earned his streak with passes from Aaron Rodgers for the Green Bay Packers. This is the fourth time the Eagles have re-signed the 29-year-old since 2018. He started four games in 2020 while also serving as a dependable replacement option when both Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert went down with injuries.

Rodgers could take on the backup tight-end role this year, whichever one happened to Ertz. The Eagles are expected to act or release the three-time Pro Bowler who skipped the Spring OTA. The Buffalo Bills remain a strong way to land Ertz. In addition, the team has officially signed the experienced receiver Michael Walker.

Josina Anderson from ESPN gave an update on Ertz: “After my talks today, there are still concerns about production and consistency on the Bill’s tight-end spot a topic of conversation in Buffalo. Something to keep in mind, especially if people are still exploring Zach Ertz’s situation in Philly. ”

Goedert is the alleged starter in the tight end, with Caleb Wilson, Tyree Jackson, Jason Croom, Jack Stoll and Hakeem Butler all battling for third place. Rodgers has had a solid career with 145 receptions for 1,518 yards and 15 touchdowns in seven NFL seasons.

Nick Sirianni is expected to take some of the « 12 Personnel » packages (two tight ends on the field together) that the Eagles ran last season. However, it cannot be a priority. The Indianapolis Colts ran only 20.9 percent of their games from these sets under Sirianni in 2020.

According to @caplannfl and his Colts sources, we shouldn’t assume Sirianni will prioritize 12 employees. Colts actually took 11 employees 68% of their snapshots in 2020, and it would have been higher if Pittman hadn’t been injured. Sirianni’s top priority is to find cheap matchups.

However, new tight-end coach Jason Michael still has to evaluate the entire tight-end group when they put on shoulder pads at training camp.

« You are working hard to learn the system, « Michael told reporters. “We are far from the training camp, we are far from the start of the season. If we get into the pads, we have a real chance to rate these guys. Everyone in the room to see who will take these steps. ”

The other shoe to be handed in could be a new contract for Goedert. The fourth year tight end is set in the final year of its rookie deal and has expressed an interest in getting something done before the start of the 2021 season. He has 137 receptions for 1,465 yards and 12 touchdowns in 42 games. The Eagles may want to lock him up before those numbers jump due to repeat starters.

Dallas Goedert spoke today about his contract situation: « If I could get the contract extension I would like to stay in Philly forever better. » #Eagles #FlyEaglesFly

« If I could get the contract extension, I would like to stay in Philly forever, » said Goedert. « The second contract is the ultimate goal. The sooner you get to it, I think it’s better. But like this or so, whether I understand it or not, I’ll have the same mentality. I have to get in there, have a good year, we have to make the playoffs, we have to get more wins than last year. «
