A 6.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded near the coast of Port-Olry on Vanuatu’s largest island, triggering a tsunami warning for nearby areas.
The quake was 91 km deep was about 19 km northwest of Port-Olry, which is northeast of Espiritu Santo, according to the US Geological Survey.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said dangerous waves were possible for coasts within 300 km of the epicenter.
