CM – Emergency assistance after a 10-year-old boy was attacked by a shark in a WA tourist hotspot


A boy was attacked by a shark in a popular Western Australian tourist spot, leading to an investigation.

Emergency services were called to Five Finger Reef south of Coral Bay in the Shire at around 11:15 am on Friday after reports of a shark attack Carnarvon called.

The boy was initially treated at the Coral Bay Nursing Post and is expected to arrive in Perth on Friday evening for further treatment.

It is recommended that you take special care in Coral Bay and contact the Keep beach closings recommended by local rangers, parks, and Wildlife of Surf Life Saving WA.

The most recent incident is the ninth shark attack in WA this year, up from seven last year.
