Guests fled a quarantine hotel in Cairns following a fire on an upper floor on Sunday morning.
At least four crews were called to the fire on the eighth floor of the Pacific Hotel on the corner of Esplanade and Spence Street at around 7 a.m.
A spokeswoman for the fire and ambulance services in Queensland said all guests had been captured and the fire had been contained by 8 a.m.
Police issued an emergency statement under the Public Safety Preservation Act for all areas inside Esplanade, Fogarty Park and Abbott, Shields and Spence Streets.
The cause of the fire was unclear, but Queensland police plan to speak to the media at 11 a.m.
