After Kevin Hatchard picked five winners from six selections on matchday one, he is back with four Europa League bets for Thursday , starting with Marseille against Galatasaray.

« Marseille averaged two goals per game in Ligue 1 but their 3-2 loss to Lens on Sunday shows they have defensive problems. »

Life is certainly never boring when Jorge Sampaoli is around. The Argentine coach had already put his exciting and yet chaotic stamp on Marseille, whether it be a win, a loss or a draw, there is always something going on.

The 3-2 home defeat to Lens on Sunday evening was a great example of this barely controlled chaos. L’OM fell back 2-0 within 27 minutes, they were equal at half time thanks to a brace from Dimitri Payet, but conceded the winning goal in the second half.

The admission of a late equalizer at 1-1 at Lokomotiv Moscow means Marseille will have to take this game seriously and it will face a Galatasaray side confident after beating Lazio 1-0. At least three goals have been scored in five of their seven Super Lig games and the recent 3-0 at Kayserispor suggests defensive deficits still need to be fixed.

In three of Marseille’s four home games this season there are at least three goals and I think there will be goals again here too. They can support over 2.5 goals at 1,845 / 6, and I think that’s an attractive price even.

Danish club Midtjylland are in a golden era. Last season they faced Liverpool, Ajax and Atalanta in the Champions League group stage and were crowned Danish champions in 2015, 2018 and 2020. This season they excluded Celtic from Champions League qualification only to then drop to PSV.

Braga are regular fighters in Europe, and they often hit above their weight nationally and continually. It was a sticky start to the campaign for Carlos Carvalhal’s men, however. Braga only lost once in the league, and that was at home to champions Sporting, but there were nondescript draws against Santa Clara, Pacos de Ferreira and Vitoria Guimaraes. On the first day of the UEL they lost 2: 1 at Crvena Zvezda.

We can support Midtjylland 0 & 0.5 with the Asian Handicap of 2.26 / 5, and that means that if there is a tie we will have half a win and full odds – against winners received if the Danish team scores all three points. Braga has only won one of its three home games this season.

It was a difficult start to Ligue 1 life for new Lyon coach Peter Bosz. The Dutchman’s demanding style of play has produced mixed results and he has publicly scourged his players for some of their performances, which is never a good early sign. Although Brazilian attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta plays brilliant football, Houssem Aouar seems unsettled by the constant transfer talks, and losing the talismanic Memphis Depay to Barcelona has always been a blow.

Danish champions Brondby have against on matchday one Sparta Prague drew 0-0. In Denmark it has been a difficult title defense so far, with only 11 points from 10 games, but they have only lost three of those games.

Lyon will have to forego the injured Moussa Dembele and Tino Kadewere in attack, and although they may win, I’ll give Brondby a two-goal start here with an Asian Handicap of 1.814 / 5. We only lose if the French win by three or more goals, which they haven’t yet under Bosz.

This is a good time to be a Napoli fan. While much of the title talks revolved around Inter, Juventus and Milan, few looked at the Partenopei in their first season under Luciano Spalletti. Napoli has won all six Serie A games and showed admirable courage two weeks ago in Leicester City in the Europa League when he returned to a 2-2 draw after falling 2-2.

Victor Osimhen has scored both goals in this comeback and he’s already had an excellent season. The Nigerian has scored four goals in five Serie A games and he harmonizes very well with EURO 2020 winner Lorenzo Insigne, who has dismissed speculation about his future (he is with his home club in the last year of his contract) / p> Spartak got off to a losing start in the group stage by beating Legia Warsaw 1-0, and last year’s runner-up in the Russian Premier League struggled under Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria. They scored just 13 points from nine league games and lost seven of their twelve competitive games this season.

Spartak may have to do without Swedish striker Jordan Larsson due to an injury, while Russian international Roman Zobnin is definitely out. I’m going to be helping Napoli -1.5 on the Asian Handicap here at 1.84 / 5.
