Fallon Sherrock’s run at the Grand Slam of Darts continued vigorously when she defeated Mensur Suljovic 10-5 in Wolverhampton and reached her first PDC Major quarter-finals.
The 27-year-old who participated on Tuesday evening a magical 170 checkout against Gabriel Clemens as the first woman to reach the round of 16 of the competition, repeated her World Cup victory against Suljovic at Alexandra Palace in 2019.
The Austrian came into the game with an average of 104 in his last group game, but was on Below average Thursday night.
Sherrock was the underdog, but once again made fun of the chances of taking her career to new heights.
It didn’t look like it was beginning as Suljovic won the first two legs, but Sherrock hit a 100 checkout for an 11-darter finish before eliminating 124 for a 12-darter to even things out.
Sherrock won six legs out of seven, leading 6-3 before Suljovic the putrefaction stopped with a 14-dart throw before the second interval.
However, Suljovic could not maintain consistency and was duly punished when Sherrock, who himself missed opportunities, removed another famous victory 9: 4.
A classic 106 checkout on tops kept Suljovic in the match, but Sherrock stormed to victory in the next leg and ended it with a double nine after 14 darts.
