FIFA has confirmed that Premier League clubs will be able to select players from Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Mexico to play this weekend after doubts about their availability.

LONDON: The most important governing body of world football, FIFA, confirmed on Saturday that the clubs of the Premier League can select players from Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Mexico for the games this weekend after doubts their availability.
After extensive discussions with FIFA, the South American associations have now agreed to waive the rule. This means that Alisson, Fabinho, Roberto Firmino (all Liverpool), Thiago Silva (Chelsea), Ederson, Gabriel Jesus (both Manchester City) and Raphinha (Leeds) are eligible again this weekend. In addition, Wolves’ Raul Jimenez, Watford’s Francisco Sierralta and Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron are also ban-free.
« Based on positive signals and a constructive dialogue that FIFA has with the UK government on the international scene Game Window in October, recognizing that players have no control over the extreme situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and hygiene restrictions currently being imposed, and as a token of « good faith, goodwill and cooperation » the member associations of Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Paraguay, in close consultation with FIFA, decided to withdraw their complaints regarding England-based players and England-based players who have not been sacked for the last international matches, « reads the Statement by FIFA.
“On September 8, 2021, the FIFA President, the interim chairman of the FA and nd the Chairman of the Premier League sent a joint letter to the UK Prime Minister. The UK government is now open to finding a reasonable solution with the three organizations that work closely together. “In the spirit of mutual understanding, in the interest of all,” the statement reads.
In particular, FIFA had articles 5 applied to enforce the embargo from September 10th to 14th. The five-day rule is intended to protect international teams from unnecessary club-influenced departures.
This dispute broke out in August after clubs in the Premier League unanimously decided not to allow players to play for internationals in redlisted countries, and the clubs’ decision was then heavily backed by the Premier League, affecting nearly 60 players from 19 Premier League clubs in 26 countries in September on the Red List.
