Regarding the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, Karnataka Prime Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Thursday that the state government had made a decision and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had made its own decision.
« I asked the BBMP Commissioner, Ministers and Police Commissioner to have discussions and clear up the confusion, » said the CM of Karnataka while speaking to reporters.
Bommai also announced that a meeting will be held and a final decision will be made by tonight.
The government of Karnataka has banned the slaughter of animals and the sale of meat prior to the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
« BBMP bans the slaughter of animals and meat for sale on Ganesha Chaturthi on September 10, 2021, » said an official order from the Joint Commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike.
Earlier, on September 5th, the government of Karnataka announced that no more than 20 people would be allowed to celebrate and immerse the Ganesha idol.
“No celebrations are allowed after 9 p.m. The nightly curfew will remain in effect during the festival in order to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, « states the standard operating instructions issued by the government.
The message goes on to say: “No processions are allowed. Only environmentally friendly Ganesha idols are allowed. Distribution of food and prasad is not allowed during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. In districts with more than 2 percent positivity, no function may take place in view of the pandemic. «
