Rescue workers began evacuating the neighborhood east of the fire, including residents of Arcadia, Cherokee, Pawnee, Green Acres and Shawnee Drives south of Jacks Valley Road. Douglas County Search and Rescue MPs and members were tasked with alerting residents.

The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. along the road near Bavarian Drive and burned east up the hill.

A command post at Jacks Valley Elementary School was relocated to Jacks Valley Target when the fire moved south of the school.

Firefighters from East Fork reacted to the fire, raised a second alarm and sought help from the surrounding authorities.
