“What are the salient points in Range Rover DNA that we need to maintain? That was the question that came up in this design process, ”said Gerry McGovern, Chief Creative Officer of Land Rover, speaking to Robb Report during an early tour of the automaker’s newly redesigned Range Rover SUV – a model that was officially unveiled today .

McGovern then went on to answer exactly that question. “Range Rover is characterized by presence and formality. How is that achieved? Well, it’s a continuous beltline, a sloping roofline – with individual posts – and some formality up front. It’s the glass-to-body relationship. In the interior, it’s about maintaining the horizontal emphasis. ”

Yes, the redesigned Range Rover has just been announced and the most striking design updates are starting at the rear. Square takes the place of Slim. The split tailgate remains (a constant since 1970) as does the unbroken belt line, which relaxes the eye in the rounded edges, where the door meets the glass and the side meets the rear.

The short overhang from the textbook remains, that of the Premiere of the vehicle’s digital LED headlights, lower front air intake and simplified front grille shows. The flush pop-out door handles (taken from the Evoque and Velar variants) emphasize the restraint that is particularly noticeable in the Sunset Gold Stain color scheme of the first edition.

McGovern personalizes the makeovers to the new Range Rover for context: « What I wear is probably no different from what we wore in the 1950s, but it has evolved, » he says, bringing the point in Regarding the next generation clearly Range Rover. « That modern twist is a great and necessary look, for fashion, for architecture, for cars. »
