A Florida teenager was fingered by a state trooper in his girlfriend’s backyard – an incident his mother claims was due to racial profiling.
Jack Rodeman, 16, left to the Fort Meyers home in an upscale neighborhood on June 16, when he was followed by trooper George Smyrnios, who, according to WINK, described him as a suspect in an arrest report.
The soldier chased the teenager into the back yard and patted him, when he texted his girlfriend to get outside, the local broadcaster said. The incident was captured on a surveillance camera.
Rodeman was reportedly arrested for loitering, possession of medical marijuana, and a criminal traffic violation, and was held in a juvenile prison for 21 days.
Smyrnios even made the arrest after the suspect’s girlfriend came outside and reportedly explained the routine situation.
The footage can be heard of the soldier ordering the teenager to put his hands behind his head.
The teenager then fell and slammed his head into a brick well with enough force to loosen a brick, footage showed.
The arresting officer said the teenage boy « fell » through the bushes to get into the backyard and did not obey his orders, it says in the article. In court documents, Smyrnios reportedly wrote that he « couldn’t see (Jack’s) hands » and « I feared he might have a gun. »
Rodeman’s mother hired a lawyer to arrest and use force which they believe is due to their son’s race. Rodeman has dark skin and wore all black, as the surveillance footage shows.
« He needs an X-ray and no doubt checked for vertebral fractures, » said attorney Derek Tyler of the ward.

According to Florida Highway Patrol guidelines, station experts said using the taser was illegal.
