The left-back, 20th Won international matches for England, played 351 times for the club between 1964 and 1975, scoring eleven goals.
One of them was the winning goal in the 1968 League Cup final against Arsenal and played a key role in the club’s title win the following season.
A Leeds statement on their website said: « Leeds United is devastated to learn of Terry Cooper’s death at the age of 77.
» Cooper is a club legend based in Leeds ‘Most successful era to date, collected 351 games for the Whites and scored 11 goals.
« Everyone at Leeds United’s thoughts are with Terry’s family and friends during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Terry. »
Cooper made his debut 1970 with the Three Lions and was in First choice left-back at the World Cup that same year.
Exeter tweeted: « Exeter City is deeply saddened to hear of Terry Cooper’s death at the age of 77. Terry led the Greeks to the fourth division championship in 1990. Our thoughts go with Terry’s friends and family. «
